A fabulous Art Deco Long bar brooch made in platinum with a combination of pave set Old European and small Rose cut diamond chips, all the gems are mille-grain set. The estimated diamond content is 1.30ct. This super antique platinum brooch has 13 bouton graduated cultured pearls, ranging from 5.5mm to 3mm in size, firmly secured in the setting of this pre-loved piece. It has a strong pin and also a safety catch for security. This is a most striking and elegant brooch from the roaring 1920-1930's that would make a statement worn on a black ensemble.
 
Mikimoto Kōkichi (御木本 幸吉, 25 January 1858 – 21 September 1954) was a Japanese entrepreneur who is credited with creating the first cultured pearl and subsequently starting the cultured pearl industry with the establishment of his luxury pearl company Mikimoto. The first successful cultured pearl was created in 1893 then Mikimoto received a patent in 1896 to create hemispherical cultured pearls.

CONDITION - Very good, wear commensurate for age. Diamonds are all securely set and present. Pearls are of good colour and have not tarnished some slight surface wear to one or two. The brooch clasp is in very good order and also fastens easily and remains tight and can be affixed to fairly light garments as well as thicker lapels.
