A superb early 20th Century 18ct yellow gold peridot, diamond and pearl bangle, comprising one central peridot with an estimated 1.1ctw surrounded by 0.60ct of lovely rose cut diamonds. Additionally, the design is completed with 16 split pearls with a further six on the tapered shoulders which have a beautiful pinkish silvery lustre. This antique hinged bangle has a double knife edge finish to the hinged section. A fabulous example of antique jewellery.
Like diamonds, peridots are formed deep within the earth and are brought to the earth’s surface by volcanic eruptions. A small number of peridots also arrive on earth via meteorites, but these are extremely rare, generally of poor quality, and are more likely to be found in a museum than a jewellery store.
Peridot is also associated with love, truth, faithfulness and loyalty and is the birthstone of August.
