An 18 karat yellow gold and turquoise pendant made in typical Boule form with the pave set cabochon turquoise beads set in two round sections one larger than the other, with a twisted rope edge that surrounds the elements of the pendant. To complete the delicate design three teardrop tassels are suspended from the bottom of the pendant. A lovely example of a pendant, from the Victorian era that doubtless was influenced in terms of sentimental jewelry from the symbolism of the forget me not.
During this period turquoise was imported from Persia, as it had been done for centuries past. The name comes from the French turquoise derived from the fact that the stone was brought through Turkey from Persia.
