A finely crafted Art Noveau period platinum diamond brooch, duly inspired by nature displaying butterfly wings or perhaps a spider’s web as influence. The brooch has a textured surface which was entirely tooled by hand. Having eleven old cut diamonds, estimated 0.50ct all rubbed over set this charming piece reflects a transitional design with typically Victorian acanthus design terminals in combination with this organic design. Rene Lalique an outstanding craftsman of this genre was hugely influential at this time & his design inspiration can be seen here. The back of the brooch is yellow gold, this was a typical method of production during the period.
