A delightful pair of Victorian yellow gold and silver inlay pique earrings hand crafted in circa 1870. The tapered obelisk shaped pique drops, beautifully inlaid with stylised geometric circle patterns formed of gold and silver. Maintaining their original spherical heads and fittings these beautiful drop earrings are both decorated with inlaid silver stars. These Victorian earrings would have been handmade during the mid-Victorian period (1860-1870). A skilled occupation which had its origins when the Huguenots escaped from France to England in the 17th Century where their craftsmanship spread. Very pretty earrings and light to wear and the detailing is seen from all sides. The silver ball posts are a later addition but in keeping with the overall style of the earrings.
