A pretty 18 karat yellow gold ruby and diamond sweetheart ring. The two entwinned hearts are set with two rubies, each 0.10cts, pave set with eight cut diamonds with an estimated diamond weight of 0.40cts. Set atop of the hearts is the tied diamond set bow.
This particular design was prevalent from the 18th Century with the conjoined hearts signifying everlasting love in combination with a bow which in the language of love tied the two hearts together. A heady combination for two lovers entwined together in a significant emblem of their feelings for each other. Rubies for passion, then diamonds are ‘forever’. The Victorians with their love of conveyed secret messages continued to use these symbolic forms throughout the period.
