This super vintage 9ct yellow brushed gold old cut diamond and ruby ring is beautifully crafted in the style of two snake or serpents heads entwined. The two snakes entwined symbolise two lovers eternal and never ending love for one another. In this way the two lovers are presented as one with an old cut diamond for its crown detail and another set with a round faceted ruby.
Snake rings were made popular during the reign of Queen Victoria (1876–1901) when Prince Albert presented an ornate snake ring to the queen as a gift to symbolise rebirth, transformation, immortality, healing and fertility. This ring is no doubt inspired by the timeless symbolism we see with snakes and serpents. A great piece worn alone or stacked!
